The first edition of ARTECLASICA was held at Palacio San Miguel, Buenos Aires, from May 13 to 20, 2004. The Exhibition Hall was about 1500 m2 using all the Palace’s salons. The Fair represented 45 booths of galleries, art dealers, cultural institutions and specialized media.
This first edition of ARTECLASICA received more than 20,000 visitors, people of the culture, politics and entertainment. The number of artworks sold was over 200.
The invited artist for this first event was the pioneer in digital art Eduardo Pla who made an installation of several plastic spheres of different dimensions between the two floors of the central hall. He gave an interesting counterpoint between the contemporary art of his proposal and the classic atmosphere of the building.
The great success of ARTECLASICA, unsuspected for many people, leaded into a geometrical growth which was shown at the 2005 edition.
